When did your DJ career first begin? My Father was a Minister in Columbus, Ohio. I began DJing in middle school for my Father's Church's Teen Ministry in 1982.
Why/how did you become a DJ? I stared Djing initially for my church's Teen ministry. Once I realized that the older teens starting liking me because I knew all of the hot songs and the songs before they became hits. Then I feel in love with the response of the crowd, then an older teen girl kissed me when I played her request. I was immediately hooked.
How would you describe your personal DJ/MC style? No matter what style of music I'm playing, my approach is Black Tie Hip-Hop. I use the energy, the fun, the crowd interactions, and call and response of early Hip Hip music and infuse that approach into my crowd interactions and music mixing.
What are some notable accomplishments, awards or recognitions you have received throughout your DJ career? In addition to being a DJ I also have produced music and owned a boutique record label in the early 1990s. During that time I had many of my songs featured on local radio station mix shows. I also have DJ'd for a number of the local radio stations for a few mixshows.
What is your favorite thing about being a DJ? My favorite thing about DJing is the crowd response where two song mix together in a way that makes both songs sound better and the crowd gets hypnotized by the experience.
What are a few interesting (non-DJ related) facts about yourself? I describe myself as an Edutainer. Professionally, I have experience in education and education leadership as well as entertainment. Most of my life is involved in mentoring, teaching, entertaining, and investing.
